Panama Calls Again!

 

    

"In a town, where roses bloom and people pay way to much for a cup of coffee, something sinister is afoot.  Something so insidious it has seeped into the very sole (get it? afoot / sole?) of the city.  A primordial ooze that came from the south and creeps up interstate five. An ancient, evil serpent with flicking tongue that smells the fear of those who dare to rent in this fair city. Portland is under attack from (Dun-Dah-Dun!) Californians!"

     The price of renting a home in my beloved city has

gotten so far out of touch with the reality of it's people that I am forced to make a decision;  stay here, find a stuffy ol' apartment where I can smolder and sweat my way through dinners of Top Ramen,

 OR,

return to the spring-like beauty of Boquete, my village in the mountains, where I am free of stress, and can find adventure every day, all while living well, eating well, and yes, drinking well (drinks), and all while living well within my budget.  Well, well, well...

     It is not hard to understand why I'm answering the call of nature, is it?  Or why I've decided to move down to Panama.  Though I'm upset about the skyrocketing cost of living in Portland, it is better to be pissed off than pissed on, right?  So let's take a step back.

  Admittedly, I'd like to stick around long enough to watch "The Donald" crash and burn, and then watch the next President crash and burn, and then watch the country cra... (well, you get my drift), but I can watch all that on  satellite TV pirated from Costa Rica, while sipping rum drinks 4,500 miles away from the actual debris field.

Not me

        Don't get me wrong (hell, most people don't get me at all), I will certainly miss my family and friends, and I love America for what we used to (and sometimes still) stand for.

Rest assured - I am not planning to die in Panama.

Still, "I'd rather die while I'm living, than live while I'm dead."

Oh, I'll keep in touch through this silly thing I call a blog, that is, if you check in once in a while,

and maybe, just maybe, we'll all learn a thing or two.

Like Wernher von Braun said; "It ain't rocket science".
